A MARTIAL arts demonstration will be the focus of a coffee morning to boost Kirkwood Hospice’s £3m Capital Appeal. The event is the eighth in a series of themed coffee mornings at the hospice in Albany Road, Dalton.

This month’s theme is ‘New Year New You’ and will feature Richard Hardy from Cobra Karate in Huddersfield, who will be running a free 30 minute karate demonstration and workshop for children.

Gina Battye from Quartz Nutrition Services will talk about nutrition and how to make healthy lifestyle changes. Representatives from Kirklees Active Leisure will be on hand to talk about the importance of keeping fit and organic food specialist Chris Long will also be in attendance.

The event will be in the support and therapy department at the hospice between 10am and noon on Saturday, January 19.

The coffee mornings are designed to raise awareness of the hospice’s Capital Appeal, which is raising £3m to cover the cost of the refurbishment and extension of the in-patient unit.
