JUNIOR COLLEGIANS entertained Wortley FC from Leeds in the second round of the Under 12 West Riding County FA Junior Shield and, despite looking the stronger side for much of the game, they finished up on the losing side of a 3-1 scoreline.

Wortley took a first-half lead, against the run of play, through Mitchell Davies and, although Tom Wall pulled one back for Collegians in the second half, further goals from Mark Ferguson and Jack Hill were enough to send Collegians crashing out of the competition.

Elsewhere, RCD League teams fared well in the various cup competitions

A James Bootland hat trick put Dalton Dynamoes into the hat for the third round draw of the Under 12 Shield as they completed a comfortable 3-0 win over Goole side Woodhouse Boys.

In the same age group, Westend came back from a goal down to defeat Stanley United.

Two second half goals from Joseph Kershaw gave Westend a narrow 2-1 win over the Wakefield side.

In the Under 14 Junior Trophy, Lepton Highlanders long journey back from Selby was a happy one after Jack Harrison (2), Adam Hill (2) and Oliver Cooper goals had given them a 5-4 victory over Thorpe United.

A goal each for Sam Neal and Jordan Fulton sent Brighouse Under 14s into the third round of the Junior Trophy with a solid 2-0 win over Pannal Ash at Hove Edge.

YMCA had the best result of the day in the Under 16 Cup when they travelled to the far side of Leeds to take onWhinmoor of the Harrogate League.

The home side managed to net twice but goals from Daniel Carr, Oliver Taylor, Dean Burns and Sam Jerome were capped by a David Pearson hat trick to give YMCA an easy ride into the third round.
