MORE than 300 would-be hikers will pull on their walking boots for charity next month.

And more people are being asked to sign up for the NSPCC’s Hike Against Cruelty to Kids (Hack), a 25-mile trek around Holmfirth.

The fourth annual Hack will be on Saturday August 30.

It will pass through Last of the Summer Wine country, starting at Hade Edge.

The walk includes parts of the Kirklees Way, the Pennine Way and the Transpennine Trail.

Tony Thomas, a Yorkshire NSPCC volunteer, who thought up the walk said: “I am thrilled that the Hack is now in its fourth year.

“It continues to go from strength to strength.

“It also covers some of the most beautiful scenery in Yorkshire and the Peak District.

“It is not only a great day out but a great opportunity to meet people, get fit and raise money.”

Since the first Hack in 2005 over 1,200 walkers have raised more than £300,000 for the NSPCC.

Last year 457 walkers did the walk; the goal for this year is 700.

Anyone interested in taking part can visit www. canuhackit.co.uk for a registration form or contact the NSPCC Appeals Team on 0113 2299 313.

The registration fee is £12.50 (non-refundable) and includes refreshments along the route.
