A NEW library is planned for Ravensthorpe.

The new library, information and children’s centre will replace the old library and community centre, which is currently being demolished.

It is intended to be the new hub of the community, providing a wide range of services for all the family.

An exciting and modern development, better-suited to its role in the community, is promised

Local Cleckheaton contractor Torpoint is carrying out the work, which follows other projects, including a nursery, health centre and renovations to the park.

The new centre will provide access to a wide range of community services, meeting space, access to more council and community information, free access to the internet and an excellent choice of books.

A council spokesman said: “The centres also provide the ideal hub for finding out what is happening in the community with information on events, meetings and much more.

“All new centres are being developed to comply with energy efficiency regulations, thus contributing to a greener environment.

“The fact that they are located within the community also means that people do not have to travel further afield to access these services.”

The centre will also be home to a Sure Start Children’s Centre, where children under five years old and their families can access services and information from a team of professionals.
