A Sheepridge man has been handed a community order after admitting to three shop thefts.

Kenton Edwards, of Brackenhall Road, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that the 38-year-old targeted Primark in Huddersfield town centre twice.

On April 1 he took some DVDs from the New Street Store.

Edwards returned just eight days later and took more DVDs and some CDs from the shop.

On March 15 he also stole two bottles of Courvoisier cognac from Asda in Bradford Road.

Edwards was sentenced to a community order with a drugs rehabilitation requirement.

The order was made as a direct alternative to custody Edwards must pay £63 compensation for the stolen goods not recovered as well as £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
