A WOMAN is angry after a company caused nearly £1,000 worth of damage to her home.
Newsome woman Caroline Joseph wants SCS to pay for the repair work.
The sofa company damaged her Ashenhurst Road home when moving in a new couch four months ago. Mrs Joseph had paid SCS on Leeds Road £850 for a leather two-seater.
She said: “They tore the wallpaper in the living room and landing, broke the bannister, knocked the smoke alarm down and scraped paint off the door frame.”
Mrs Joseph, 42, said the company agreed to foot the bill.
She said: “They sent me a letter saying they would pay for the repair, so I got a decorator in to have a look.
“He told me it would cost £950, but SCS are refusing to pay.”
Mrs Joseph added that the company have ignored her complaints.
She said: “When I call them they tell me they will phone back, but they don’t. It’s really, really bad.”
But SCS spokesman Malcolm Royal told the Examiner that the company would pay for the work.
He said: “Obviously we want to get this sorted and we will pay that quote if it’s the best we can do.”
