SHOPPERS and business people mingled for a Christmas carol service at Huddersfield parish church.

The annual event was organised by Huddersfield Society of Chartered Accountants.

The carols were accompanied by Honley Male Voice Choir and Sellers International band, under musical director Philip McCann. The vocal soloist was Charlotte Breen.

Ben Croombs and Sarah Burns played a duet on xylophone and a euphonium solo was played by Toni Howden.

Readings were given by James Skinner, president of Huddersfield Law Society; Prof Sue Frost, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Huddersfield University; Kirklees Mayor Clr Donald Firth; Esta Andrews, secretary of the accountants' society; and society president Tim Sugden.

The service was conducted by the vicar of Huddersfield, Catherine Ogle.
