THIEVES have been targeting laptop computers.

The criminals see the expensive computers as easy-to-grab and quick to sell on items.

And they have been stealing them from both homes and cars across Huddersfield.

The simple message is: Don’t leave them on view — especially close to windows and never in cars.

A lot of personal information is stored on laptops along with sometimes irreplaceable photographs.

If it’s stolen there is a danger the thieves could also steal your identity.

And it will also take a mass of phone calls, time and effort to stop bank accounts and credit cards.

Here are just some of the crimes committed over the last few days.

Rock Road, Birchencliffe – Between noon and 1.30pm on Monday, thieves smashed a hole in a window, gained entry through window and left with stolen property.

They got away with a PS3, a Hewlett Packard laptop, Rolex timemaster watch, Sony Cybershop camera, two Apple ipods and a Sony camcorder.

Riddings Rise, Sheepridge – Between 2pm and 10pm on Monday. A burglar forced a lock on front door, searched the house and stole property including a Sony computer and a Swisstec plasma TV.

Browning Road, Sheepridge – A house was burgled between Thursday and Sunday by a thief who forced a door lock. The intruder got away with property including a laptop computer and jewellery.

Whitehead Lane, Primrose Hill – between 10.15pm and 11.35pm on Sunday.

The thief stood on bin attempting to enter through insecure window, but was seen by a witness who knocked the bin away.

The suspect was a white male, 6ft tall and of medium build, wearing a dark hoody, dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers. Has anyone an idea as to his identity?

We want to know if anybody has been offered any of the stolen property.
