A MIDDLE-aged conman tricked his way into the home of a 92-year-old woman.

Now police are anxious to find out if the man has struck elsewhere.

The woman answered a knock at her door in the Bradford Road area near Fartown Bar at 2.45pm yesterday.

A man outside flashed a card at her and walked straight in, claiming he was there to check radiators.

He asked where her boiler was and she led him to the kitchen.

He told her to look at the guage at the front while he went to check a radiator in the lounge.

But she became suspicious and went into the room where she found the man standing near her sideboard.

He said the radiators were all right there and then went upstairs.

He asked her to touch a radiator in a bedroom until it became hot, but then slipped downstairs.

She realised something was wrong and found him back near the sideboard again.

She asked him to leave and he walked out.

The intruder is white, aged around 50, 5ft 7ins with short dark hair.

He was scruffy, dressed in dark or black clothes.

Det Con Tim Smith, of Huddersfield Police, said: "This man may have been to other houses and only now people realise he was a bogus caller.

"We would like to hear from anyone who has been approached."
