A TRICKSTER tried to con an 85-year-old man out of £600.

The victim saw the man on his driveway at his house on Moor Lane, Netherton, at 1.30pm on Monday.

He went outside to see what the man wanted.

The conman told the victim he had spent five or six hours clearing out his gutters and wanted £600.

The man refused to hand any money over and the trickster eventually left.

The victim's son later checked the gutters and found that no work had been done on them.

Acting Sgt Jim Carter, of Huddersfield police, said: "The man has clearly tried to con the victim out of cash. He may have tried this at other homes.

"He is quite distinctive and we would like to hear from anyone who may have been approached by him."

The conman is white, stocky, aged 45 to 50 and 5ft 9in, with ginger hair.
