POLICE have again appealed for information about a conman who has been on the make in Marsh and Edgerton.

The man has approached strangers with a sob story about a dead relative.

He asks to borrow money to get back to Manchester.

On other occasions, he has claimed that he has broken down and needs money for travel.

The man is Asian, about 30 years-old, 5ft 4ins tall, slightly built and is described as having distinctive eyes. He has been seen wearing a hat.

The appeal comes as police issue more warnings about bogus callers in Huddersfield.

There were several reports in March and February of dodgy characters trying to fleece people of money in Marsh and Paddock.

Police community support officer Natalie Haigh, from Huddersfield, is advising people to be on their guard.

She said: “Don't let anyone into your property that you are not expecting to call.

“Always ask for their identification card if they say they are from a particular company and if you are at all unsure, ask them to go away.”

Witnesses or anyone with information that may help police should call Natalie Haigh on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
