PEOPLE are being warned to watch out for bogus workmen operating in the Huddersfield area.
The warning comes after Huddersfield police received a complaint from an elderly woman.
A man called at her home in St John's Road, Kirkheaton at 11.40am on Monday.
He claimed he was from the council and said he had come to fit a spy-hole in the front door.
She told him she did not want the work done, but he produced a drill and put the hole in the door.
The woman asked him to leave and he did.
The man got into a silver/blue Daewoo Nexia car, with the registration P226 CVE.
Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "This vehicle has been involved throughout the north of England with bogus calling at the homes of elderly people.
"People should be on their guard."
The man was desc- ribed as white, in his early 50s, of average build and smart. The woman also said he was a fast talker.
