CONSTRUCTION students got the chance for some on-the-spot learning when they visited the site of the new Kirklees College.

Eleven students on the Foundation and Higher Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment visited the £73m college building which dominates the skyline on land between Chapel Hill and Manchester Road.

The students, aged 14 to 16, attend college one day a week and go to Castle Hall School in Mirfield, Almondbury High School and Honley High School for the rest of the week.

Micah West, Kirklees College construction lecturer, said: “We are taking the students to the new build as part of their courses’ applied learning element and also because of their shared interest in construction.

“This is an incredible opportunity for everyone.”
