ROMANTICS will be able to say it with booze as well as flowers at a town centre florists shop.

The Posy Bowl in Market Walk is asking Huddersfield magistrates for a special licence so it can sell champagne and other types of alcohol with bouquets.

Beverley Couldwell, who has owned the shop for four years, said if the licence was granted it would give her the opportunity to offer customers a greater choice.

She said as an Interflora florist, the shop already offered balloons, chocolates and teddy bears to accompany bouquets and floral arrangements.

But she said the licence would allow her to offer alcohol for different types of occasions and celebrations such as bottles of whisky for Father's Day and champagne with roses for Valentine's Day.

Interflora florists nationally had been making similar applications, she said.

The application will be made before magistrates next Thursday.
