CORONATION Street actor Richard Fleeshman is to join Huddersfield Methodist Church Choir for its Christmas concert.
Richard, 15, who plays Craig Harris in the soap, was introduced to the choir by his agent, Kirkheaton-based George Wilkinson.
Mr Wilkinson's wife is a member of the choir, which will perform its concert in Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday, December 18.
Richard travelled from his home in Cheshire to attend his first rehearsal with the choir and members of Sellers International Youth Band at Gledholt Methodist Church.
He also sang songs by Elton John, Bob Dylan and Robbie Williams and played the piano, guitar and mouth organ.
He was accompanied by his mum, Sue Jenkins, who is best known for playing Jackie Corkhill in Brookside.
Sue, who is married to actor David Fleeshman, has also played Gloria Todd in Coronation Street.
She left to have Richard in 1989, and in 2002 he followed in her footsteps by joining the soap.
Despite his acting success, Richard's ultimate aim is to be a musician.
He has an alto voice and is also an accomplished guitarist and pianist.
He bought his own baby grand piano with his earnings from Coronation Street last year and practises constantly.
He said: "I write my own songs. My stuff is a bit like Elton John, Bob Dylan and Robbie Williams.
"I like to do a bit of swing, too," he added.
"Singing is what I want to do. I always find time to do it, even if it's just to de-stress."
Richard's profile as a singer has been steadily growing.
Last year, he won celebrity Stars In Their Eyes, singing Will Young's Evergreen.
He has also appeared at a series of Variety Club charity events, organised by Coronation Street actress Liz Dawn.
One of these involved Richard singing at Wembley Arena last May with opera star Russell Watson.
Although Huddersfield Methodist Choir's concert will be smaller scale, it presents new challenges for Richard.
He said: "This will be different, as I've never sung with a choir before. I've never been to Huddersfield before, either."
But fans of Coronation Street shouldn't worry. Richard is not giving up acting just yet.
He said: "For the time being I'm loving Coronation Street.
"It is a great experience. It's like one big family."
So much so, that Thomas Craig and Kathryn Hunt - who play Richard's on-screen parents Tommy and Angela Harris - are coming to watch him at the Christmas concert.
His own mother cannot be there on the night - but his proud dad will be in the audience.
Sue, 46, said: "I'm really sad that I can't be there. I'll have to get David to video it for me!
She is currently appearing on TV screens in Heartbeat spin-off The Royal.
