SINGING star in the making, Brad Spencer, is a step closer to achieving his dream.
Brad, 13, of Lindley, has been selected for the regional finals of Teen Star, a spin-off from the popular Open Mic UK competition.
The Rishworth School pupil sang the Timbaland hit Apologise at a regional heat in Sheffield.
Brad’s rendition of the R&B song impressed the judges and he was invited to audition at the regional finals at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, in April.
Although he found his first audition nerve-racking Brad, who likes Amy Winehouse, Paramore and Coldplay, is more confident about the next stage.
If he jumps the next hurdle he’ll go through to the national final, at London’s O2 Arena, where prizes include a recording contract and £20,000 cash.
Brad said: “I’m quite confident about my next audition. Hopefully, I’ll try my best and practice plenty and get to the O2.
“I’d love to be a professional singer on stage.”
Brad’s mum Joanne added: “He’s got what it takes. We just needed this break.
“We have high hopes for him.”
