Calling all young West Yorkshire beauties!

Entrants are being invited for this year’s Miss West Yorkshire competition which will see the lucky winner offered a prize package worth £5,000.

And due to the organiser’s decision to break away from affiliation to the Miss England competition to relax the entry criteria even more girls have the chance to enter.

The finals will be staged at the Grappolo Italian restaurant in Lockwood in February.

Organisers will again support Huddersfield’s Kirkwood Hospice but for the first time the hospice will be the only charity to benefit. Last year £1,700 was raised.

Events director Alexandra Devine said: “Following the success of our previous contests we are relaunching the contest for 2014/15. Now in our third year we will no longer be sending our winner to the Miss England competition.

“We took this decision so we could modernise the rules of the competition to make the contest more inclusive.

“We can now allow women who have given birth and have been married to enter the contest. We have also extended the entry age range to 16-29 years. We are really excited about this and we are looking forward to receiving a huge variety of applicants.”

Those hopefuls who are eager to wow judges with their looks and personalities could see themselves taking part in fundraising days, volunteering days, a boot camp fitness event and an eco-wear round, in which they are asked to create an outfit from recycled materials to promote environmental awareness.

Alexandra added: “We have no preferred look, style or situation. Our aim is find the area’s next top model and role model.”

The live final at Grappolo will be a catwalk style event.
