ALLEGATIONS of misbehaviour have been levelled at a Kirkburton parish councillor.

Clr Roy Dobson faces a number of complaints over his alleged actions.

The Standards Board for England has been called in to investigate.

All elected members of councils, including parish councils, must abide by strict rules.

A spokeswoman for the board confirmed it was investigating complaints against Clr Dobson.

The allegations, made by a member of Kirkburton Parish Council, are that Clr Dobson brought his office into disrepute, failed to treat other people with respect and, additionally, that he disclosed confidential information.

The spokeswoman said the investigation was continuing and no conclusions had yet been reached.

Clr Dobson said the matter stemmed from his robust questioning of the parish council clerk over finances.

He added: "If questioning the expenditure of the parish council is harassing the clerk, then one has to go down that line."
