KIRKLEES Council spent nearly £40,000 making a DVD about a controversial schools plan.
The disc entitled: “Brighter futures for our children and young people” was presented by Shobna Gulati, who played Sunita in Coronation Street
The council spent £37,089 producing and reproducing the DVD, which was sent to 45,000 homes in north Kirklees last year.
The disc formed part of a consultation pack about a £200m plan for secondary schools in Mirfield, Dewsbury, Batley and the Spen Valley.
The plan – which is still being debated – included closing Castle Hall School in Mirfield.
