A BID to end the deadlock which has gripped Kirklees Council will be made tonight.
A special meeting of Kirklees Council has been called - two weeks after the shock resignation of council leader Clr Kath Pinnock and the entire Cabinet.
They quit in a war of words over the planned police merger between Huddersfield and Dewsbury.
Tonight all the politcial parties will try to thrash out a solution to the stalemate.
But it is possible that no solution will come out of the meeting, which starts at Huddersfield Town Hall at 6pm.
The Tories, the second largest party, propose they take the leadership and the Cabinet seats.
But another proposal has been put forward by the Lib Dems, who have two more seats, that there should be a shared administration with Clr Pinnock as council leader.
Labour have not tabled any proposal at this stage.
