MOST residents and businesses were happy with Kirklees Council's environmental services, a customer survey revealed.

The service includes bulky refuse collection, trade waste collection, pest control and drainage, food safety, pollution and noise control and animal welfare.

People were questioned about their contact with staff and 91% were happy with the way their inquiry was dealt with.

And 87% who paid for services thought they were good value for money.

A total of 83% of respondents rated the service as excellent or very good.

Steve Noble, the council's assistant environment director, said: "The survey results are very encouraging and demonstrate the excellence of the services we provide.

"Where customers have identified some level of dissatisfaction, we have investigated this and have changed our service for the better."
