A COUNCILLOR has been accused of stirring trouble over plans for a new care home.
Earlier this month Clr Christine Stanfield complained about a delay in turning Oakes Villa from a residential care home into a day care centre for dementia sufferers.
The Lindley Lib Dem said the plan “appeared to have been scrapped” after work didn’t begin in spring as planned.
But Lindley Conservative Clr Tony Brice has criticised Clr Stanfield, saying she knew of the schedule for redeveloping the home.
Clr Brice said: “We were both at a Lindley Neighbourhood Management Group in June when a Kirklees official explained work would begin in September.
“I’m baffled about why she’s raised this. It’s just trouble-stirring.”
But Clr Stanfield said: “In February the council announced extra funds of £170,000 so work could start in spring. Nothing happened. It was after the June meeting that I heard the scheme had been pulled. Everything I said I believed was true. If I’ve been misinformed then I have to apologise.”
