Former Huddersfield X Factor singer Carolynne Poole will star in a charity’s 20th anniversary ball.

Carolynne, who used to live in Birkby, will perform at the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust’s fundraising ball in July.

The ball is back for 2016 as part of the Huddersfield-based charity’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

The trust’s Rose Ball takes place at the Cedar Court Hotel at Ainley Top on Saturday, July 16.

Country singer Carolynne will be joining guests for the evening as well as performing. Carolynne was a finalist on X Factor four years ago and also appeared on Fame Academy in 2003, finishing third.

The trust has recently announced its partnership with Alex and Lockwood-based Pennine Business Partners for the Hit Cancer for Six initiative that is running throughout the 2016 cricket season.

Trust fundraising manager Helen Mervill said: “This year’s ball is particularly special as it will commemorate our two decade long battle against cancer in young people.

“We are bringing the charity’s ball back home to Huddersfield and specifically to Ainley Top where the charity’s launch ball was held back in 1997.

“We are delighted to be sharing the evening with some very special guests including Carolynne and Alex and, most importantly, our young cancer patients.”

Money raised from the ball will support the charity’s work with teenage cancer patients, including the provision of laptop and iPad libraries in hospitals to ensure young cancer patients can continue their education and to provide a link to family, friends and everyday life.

Tickets are £45 per person or £400 for a table of 10, which includes a three course dinner and entertainment.
