LEPTON couple Bill and Alwyn Hunsley have celebrated their golden wedding.

The couple, who met at a party, marked their 50 years of marriage with a party at the YMCA at Salendine Nook.

They were married at St Andrew's Church, Leeds Road, Huddersfield.

Mr Hunsley, 72, was in the Royal Navy at the time of their marriage and Mrs Hunsley, 69, went to live in Malta for 12 months, shortly after their wedding.

After leaving the Navy when he was 25, Mr Hunsley worked as a setter at Holset engineering, Turnbridge, and at Metal Closures, Waterloo.

Mrs Hunsley worked in textiles for most of her life, as a mender at Taylor and Lodge, Lockwood, Thornton Jones at Fenay Bridge and Celaric at Whitley Willows, Lepton.

The couple have three children and four grandchildren.

Mrs Hunsley enjoys keeping fit and is a member of a local gym, where she swims 50 lengths twice a week.
