A CONMAN left empty-handed after he was rumbled by an elderly Kirkheaton couple.
Police believe the man was spotted prowling about in the same village days later and have warned people to be vigilant.
The man called at the couple's home on Town Road just before 5pm last Wednesday
He claimed to be from electricity company Npower and was there to change the electricity meter.
But the couple became suspicious and he left, claiming he would return but never did.
Police believe the same man was seen peering through the windows of a house on Hillside in Kirkheaton at 7pm on Tuesday.
Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "The description we have of both men is very similar so it could well be the same person.
"We would urge people to be extra vigilant and never let anyone in their home they don't know.
"We checked with Npower and they had no-one in the area last Wednesday and would never approach anyone in that way to change a meter.
"They would always make an appointment first."
The man is white, aged 30 to 35 and he wore a dark donkey jacket, dark trousers and has several days of facial growth.
