A COUPLE have lost their battle to build a bungalow extension.
Christopher and Sheila Allen wanted pull down a flat-roofed garage at their home in Grasmere Drive, Elland.
It would have been replaced with a wider garage with two bedrooms above.
Mr and Mrs Allen's bid for planning permission was thrown out by Calderdale Council.
Now independent inspector Graham Garnham has rejected the couple's appeal.
He agreed the extension's height and closeness would harm living conditions in the next-door bungalow.
