A COUPLE who met when they were just 16 celebrated their diamond wedding yesterday.
Leonard and Joyce Livesey, of Waterhall Court, New Mill, were living in the same part of Oldham when they met.
They married in 1945 and two years later had a son.
In 1957 Mr Livesey, now aged 80, started working for ICI in Huddersfield and so the couple moved to the town.
He left after 24 years as a foreman and went to work for Kirklees Council as a caretaker and then in the nursery department doing various gardening jobs and driving.
Mrs Livesey, 79, worked at Brook Motors, Folly Hall, for 24 years, leaving as supervisor in the computer department.
In her spare time she helped set up the Huddersfield Ladies' Works Bowling League. She and her husband still play both indoor and outdoor bowls.
The couple have one son, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
