A FLOCKTON couple will celebrate their golden wedding in style with a cruise down the River Nile.
June and Patrick McDonough met at a youth club in Moldgreen and married at St Joseph’s RC Church, Aspley.
They first lived at Whitehead Lane, Primrose Hill, before moving to Moorside Lane in Kirkheaton for nine years.
They also spent time in Dewsbury where June ran a hairdressing salon for 25 years before returning to School Street, Moldgreen, and finally settling at Flockton.
After selling her shop, June worked in the podiatry department at Huddersfield University for 25 years. She also worked as a cook at Almondbury firm Kippax until her retirement.
Patrick spent 15 years as a chair frame maker at former Moldgreen furniture company Drakes.
He then worked as a HGV driver for more than 35 years for companies including Cossett Carpets in Brighouse and Dukes Transport on Leeds Road.
The couple, who have no children, enjoy walking, gardening and holidays.
