TEENAGE thieves with a Staffordshire bull terrier robbed a couple.
The two thieves were in a small red hatchback car - possibly a Vauxhall Corsa - which pulled up near the victims on Church Street in Paddock.
The incident happened at the junction with Branch Street at 1.35am on New Year's Eve.
The youths got out of the car with the tan-coloured dog, walked up to the man and woman and started to talk to them.
One of the thieves then told the man to empty his pockets.
When he didn't straightaway his accomplice threatened him with a baseball bat.
They then searched the victim and stole his Sony Ericsson mobile phone.
They also took the woman's tan leather handbag.
Det Con Dave Kinghorn, of Kirklees CID, said: "It was quite unusual that they had a dog with them.
"We would like to hear from anyone who can put together the car, the dog and the youths.
"Someone must know who they are."
Both robbers are white. One is aged 17 or 18 and is 5ft 10in tall, with big lips and grey or blue eyes.
He wore a dark hooded top with the hood up. His accomplice is between 15 and 17 and slim.
He also wore a dark hooded top.
