A WOULD-BE robber tried to hit a man with a bottle before his accomplice threatened to knife him.
The two youths confronted the 25-year-old and a 19-year-old woman as they walked along Commercial Street near Huddersfield University at about 12.45am on Wednesday.
There was a short scuffle and the two ran off empty-handed towards Firth Street.
Their victims were unhurt.
The youths are both white, aged about 18 and around 5ft 6ins tall. They wore dark hooded tops and dark tracksuit bottoms.
