A COUPLE made a desperate appeal for help in finding a missing dog.

Simon and Pat Chadwick were “dog-sitting” Bearded Collie Rita, when Mrs Chadwick’s father in law was taken into hospital.

Mr George Hirst, of Birkby, is in the Royal Infirmary and doesn’t know that his beloved dog has vanished.

Now the couple – who have spent five days searching for Rita – have offered a reward to help find her.

And they hope they can be reunited with Rita before Mr Hirst comes out of hospital.

Mr Chadwick said: “He dotes on the dog. He got her when his wife Sandra died and he got her from an RSPCA rescue centre to give her a better life.

“She ran out of our house in Inglewood Avenue, Birkby, on Saturday evening and was followed all the way up to Lindley.

“She vanished at Reinwood but I did see her again on Tuesday in Reinwood. I tried to follow her but lost her on the playing fields at Salendine Nook High School.

“She is very scared, which is not surprising given her background of abuse, but I hope we can get her back.”

Rita is grey and white and had recently been clipped.

She is micro chipped and details have been posted with the RSPCA and Lostdog.co.uk

Anyone who sees her is urged to contact Pam Chadwick on 07719 857741.
