A NEW crackdown on dog fouling has been launched in Calderdale.

The council’s Safer, Cleaner, Greener teams are cracking down on dog fouling “hot spots” across Calderdale.

They are working with community groups and members of the public to target problem areas and install signs and post-mounted dog fouling bins.

The Council is providing 50,000 ‘poop and scoop’ dog fouling bags to council workers, and council offices in Brighouse, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Ovenden and Mixenden Initiative offices.

The bags will then be handed out to members of the public by council staff who are out and about on the streets or in parks and open spaces.

As bagged dog waste can also be disposed of in any public general litter bin, there will also be 80 new general waste bins installed throughout Calderdale to help promote disposal of litter and dog waste in a responsible way.
