POLICE have pledged to crack down on nuisance bikers in two areas of Huddersfield.

They are targeting youths on the off-road bikers in both Newsome and Lowerhouses.

The action follows concerns raised by residents at a meeting of the Newsome Community Forum.

They told police officers there were growing problems with the bikers.

Two officers on patrol in Lowerhouses stopped a youth on an off-road bike on a children’s playground off New Laithe Hill.

He was given a police warning and told the bike would be seized if there were further complaints.

A police spokesman said: “We are determined to stamp out the problems”.
