A woman said she was left feeling frightened after her ex bombarded her with more than 300 texts.

Kirklees Magistrates’ Court heard that Michelle Beaver suffered psychological harm after Craig Allen threatened to set fire to her Almondbury home in one of the messages.

And he continued to contact her despite an indefinite restraining order banning him from doing so.

Allen pleaded guilty to breaching the order between July 6 and 20.

Shamaila Qureshi, prosecuting, said that the couple’s five year relationship ended in January last year.

There had been a history of domestic violence within the relationship and in December 2013 Doncaster magistrates granted the restraining order.

The order remains in place and prohibits Allen from contacting Ms Beaver.

However she then received a total of 307 texts from her ex, three of which were threatening and abusive in nature.

In one Allen threatened to set fire to her home and in another he made threats to smash her windows.

On another occasion the 27-year-old was found drunk near to her home.

A member of the public reported him shouting and swearing and causing a nuisance outside the One Stop Shop on Fernside Avenue on July 19.

Allen admitted an additional charge of being drunk and disorderly in public.

Mrs Qureshi said: “The complainant has fled from South Yorkshire to Huddersfield due to the domestic violence history between them.

“Significant psychological harm is being caused and she’s afraid because of the content of the messages.

“She believes he’s capable of harming her.”

District Judge Michael Fanning ordered more information on Allen, of Beechfield Terrace in Cleckheaton, prior to sentencing him.
