MOTORISTS have been urged to find out what to do after they've had a crash.

Police in West Yorkshire have teamed up with the RAC to give out free Collision Care Packs.

The packs are available from police station helpdesks and are also given out by officers who deal with minor accidents.

The packs give advice to drivers about what to do if they have an accident, answers to the most frequently asked questions and useful contact numbers including local hospitals.

There are also details of the RAC's free collision helpline - 08000 158 728 - which offers independent advice and assistance to both RAC members and non-members involved in a crash.

Alex Heath, head of Collision Care at the RAC, said: "It is extremely important that people involved in collisions have access to the best advice and understand exactly what they need to do.

"Working in partnership with West Yorkshire Police allows us the opportunity to use our experience and expertise to help these people."

Deputy Chief Constable Phill Brear added: "We hope we can get the Collision Care Packs out to as many drivers in West Yorkshire as we possibly can.

"Being involved in an accident is a traumatic experience and we hope to make it a bit easier by providing practical help and advice."
