YOUNGSTERS are lucky to be alive after a car rolled down a banking off a steep moorland road. Police say the 18-year-old driver – who had only passed his test a week before – was going too fast while coming down Woodhead Road from Holme Moss at 9.50pm on Wednesday night. He braked and lost control before the Fiat Punto rolled over down the banking before landing on its wheels again. Four young people were in the car and one girl was hurt. At first it was feared she had broken bones, but her injuries turned out to be cuts and bruises. Pc Ray Terry, of the traffic police, said: “This could easily have ended in tragedy.’’
