A COUPLE who met on the dance floor are celebrating their diamond wedding.

Brian and Gladys Gill celebrated 60 years of marriage on Saturday by returning to the place of their honeymoon – Blackpool.

The Crosland Moor couple met at the old Co-op dance hall.

Mr Gill, now 83, worked as a clerk at Calvert and Co of Folly Hall and Mrs Gill, nee Hawden, 81, worked at John Brook Mill in Armitage Bridge.

They courted for a few years until they wed at St Barnabas Church in Crosland Moor.

Mrs Gill wore a white wedding gown for her big day and younger sister Leticia was her bridesmaid.

Mrs Gill said: “It was a cold and windy day but a nice day for us.”

They went on a honeymoon to Blackpool which is the place they returned to to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.

They also had a party for family and friends, including their two children Michael and Andrew, four grandchildren Marcus, Adam, Jonathan and Laura and great-grandchild Louie George.

Mr Gill is the treasurer of the Royal British Legion at Golcar and they both attend the club.
