YOUNGSTERS from Crow Lane Junior and Infants School took time out from their half-term holidays to help open a new store in Milnsbridge.

The pupils, who are attending the Boosters out of school club this week, prepared a welcome poster for store manager Caroline Nield and her staff, to mark the opening of the Aldi outlet in Scar Lane.

In return, the children were presented with Hallowe’en goody bags and pumpkins.

The store is the third to be opened by Aldi in Huddersfield in less than a year – joining outlets at Waterloo and Beck Road, off St John’s Road, Huddersfield.

Aldi closed the former Somerfield store in Milnsbridge in the spring. The company then began a major refit, which included extending the building to provide an enclosed loading bay, changing the layout of the service yard and increasing the number of car parking spaces.

A new path has been provided for shoppers walking to the store and a new entrance with glass canopy has been installed to provide a shelter for the trolley bays and a sun screen.
