ARMED robbers brought terror to staff at a landmark pub.

The thieves struck at the White Gate Inn between Cooper Bridge and Mirfield yesterday morning.

A 32-year-old manageress was already in the pub at 9.50am yesterday, but, when her 31-year-old female colleague arrived, two masked raiders also forced their way in.

They were brandishing crowbars and the woman who had just arrived was forced to the floor and pinned down.

The second woman was forced to open a safe and cash was stolen.

The thieves then got into a getaway car driven by a third man which sped off on Leeds Road towards Roberttown.

The car is black and may have had a spoiler on the back.

The registration plate is thought to have had ST1 in it and had a distinctive square number plate on the back.

The pub is next to Whiteleys Garden Centre.
