A HUDDERSFIELD curate has been appointed as a director at a Christian education centre in Mirfield.

The Rev June Lawson took up the post of director of the Ecumenical Christian Adult Project on September 8.

The project is based at the Mirfield Centre, which is a Christian education centre.

The Mirfield Centre shares a site with the Community of the Resurrection religious college at Battyeford, Mirfield, which trains members of the clergy.

Mrs Lawson's new post is jointly funded by the college and the Diocese of Wakefield.

Before the move she had been curate at Holy Trinity Church in Huddersfield for the last three years.

She has a background in education, having taught previously at schools in Bradford and at Dewsbury College.

She has also been chaplain at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
