HUDDERSFIELD hairdresser Hayley Jennings proved she was a cut above the rest when she transformed the locks of beauties at this year’s Miss England final.
Hayley, who works at Mark Riley in Huddersfield, was part of a 20-strong team chosen to tame the tresses of the 90 Miss England finalists.
The stylists worked their magic backstage on the stunners as they battled it out for a chance to represent England in the Miss World competition.
And they had their work cut out for them; as with over half of the finalists wearing hair extensions, voluminous and luscious locks were high on the list of styles.
In a break with the traditional beauty pageant craze of big curls, the contestants opted for more natural and wearable hair.
For Hayley, having the opportunity to work at the prestigious contest, held this year at the Athena conference and banqueting centre in Leicester, is a dream come true.
Hayley, a big fan of the competition since childhood, has been working on Miss England since last year.
She commented: “I had an amazing night and can’t wait for next year now!”
Official Miss England hair sponsors Racoon International provided the team of hairdressers to work backstage on the big night.
They enlisted the help of Hayley, who is also a member of the Racoon Artistic team.
The winner of Miss England 2007 was Georgia Horsley, from Malton, North Yorkshire, who will represent her country in the Miss World competition, to be held in China later this year.
