HEALTH bosses have launched a drive to cut their energy bills by 15%.

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust hopes to save £560,000 in just one year.

A spokesman said: "The message is that no effort is too small."

Hospital staff are being urged to switch off non-essential equipment overnight.

The spokesman added that it was not just a question of saving money, adding: "Our fossil fuels are depleting. Everyone should be aiming to save energy."

`Green champions' will spread the word among staff.

The spokesman said: "If people learn to save energy at work they can do it at home and save money there."
