TWO cyclists are riding thousands of miles across Africa to help a hospice.

Peter Ridehalgh, 30, from Illingworth and David Roden, 30, of Queensbury, are travelling from Ethiopia to South Africa to raise money for Overgate Hospice in Elland.

The 5,500-mile journey will take them more than three months to complete. Peter and David, who have been planning the trip for two years, began three weeks ago and have just entered Kenya.

They are covering 70 miles a day, six days a week.

Hospice spokeswoman Laura Ramsden paid tribute to the pair. She said: “We are all really proud of Peter and David for organising such a fantastic event and we wish them all the best.”

The pair are updating their progress on their cycling club website at www.teambad.net/africa.htm.
