POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist was hurt on a main Huddersfield road.

The 71-year-old man came off his bike on Wakefield Road, Grange Moor, at 7.10am yesterday.

Now police are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen the man riding along Wakefield Road towards Lepton from his Middlestown home.

He was found lying injured in the road near the Wakefield Road junction with Ben Booth Lane by a motorist.

Police treated it as a serious accident at the time and the road was closed for two hours.

Examinations and X-rays at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield revealed the cyclist had only cuts and bruises, but he was detained for observation.
