A Dalton couple had a day to remember at their fairytale wedding after the Huddersfield Daily Examiner made the pair’s dream day come true.

Sweethearts Amy Wood and Mark Pitchforth finally tied the knot at their beautiful event after more than 11 years together.

The first ever winners of Examiner’s Win a Dream Wedding, they thought they would have to put their marriage plans on hold until they were handpicked in 2013's competition to receive the £12,000 package of wedding services, which included a reception hosted by John Smith’s Stadium, a wedding dress by Westgate Bridal Studio and a wedding cake by Angela the Cake Lady.

Amy rolled up to St Augstine’s Church in Scissett in style, thanks to Cartwright’s Cars, where she and her to-be husband were joined by 80 guests who watched their special moment.

They then joined 70 more guests at a glamorous evening reception at the Stadium in a suite adorned with flowers from Flowers by Glen and fairy lights and other decorations thanks to Katherine Maye.

They were treated to a slap-up buffet whilst, The Wedding Magicians, the band and DJ made sure the celebration lasted late into the night.

Amy, a retail assistant, who lives with engineer Mark in Kingston Avenue, fell for each other in 2003 after meeting whilst on a night out in Huddersfield and are now honeymooning in Paphos in Cyprus, thanks to JNT Destinations.

She said: “It was really fantastic and we couldn’t have wished for a better day.

“Having a church wedding was very special to us and it was great to have all our friends and family together in one place.

“We were absolutely gobsmacked when we saw the reception room, it was lovely and was everything that we imagined it would be.

“We had wanted to get married for five years since Mark proposed to me on the beach in Koz but because we bought a house together we had to put it on the back burner.”

Fairies in the Kitchen Cupcakes, Peter Rush, Huddersfield Giants, Mark Flynn Photography, Limelight in Lepton, Holiday Inn Leeds Brighouse, Toothill Design and HypnoReflex also offered their help to make their big day one to remember.
