A YOUNG driver who was seriously injured in a crash in Lepton was in a stable condition yesterday.
The Dalton 18-year-old suffered serious head and facial injuries after his car plunged into a field off Wakefield Road shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
He was travelling in his VW Corrado from Grange Moor when the car veered off the road, crashed through a fence and went into a field.
He was trapped inside for 30 minutes before being freed by fire crews.
His condition was described as “stable and comfortable” in Leeds General Infirmary.
The accident has sparked calls for more safety controls on the road.
