A DALTON man is due to stand trial accused of driving without due care and attention.

Gurvinder Singh Rana is alleged to have committed the offence at Chapel Hill in Huddersfield.

Carole Lawford, prosecuting, said that on January 18 police were driving behind his Citroen Saxo.

She said that Rana then made a handbrake turn in the middle of the road with other cars passing close by.

Ms Lawford said this demonstrated that the 21-year-old was driving without due care and attention.

Rana, of Patterdale Drive, denies the charge and claims that he did turn the car safely.

His case was adjourned until July 20 when he will appear for trial at the court.
