A GRATEFUL bride is in search of the man who saved her wedding day – and it wasn’t her new husband.

Dressed in her white gown, Rachael Brook waved goodbye to her bridesmaids and mum as they set off to the church ahead of her.

But moments later disaster struck and the white Daimler that the women were travelling in broke down on Dalton Green Lane.

Within seconds a man, thought to be walking his dog, stopped and offered to help.

The stranger pushed the car to a safe area before rushing home and fetching his own car to take the driver to get a spare vehicle.

The driver returned to pick up waiting bride Rachael and her dad Graham Brook.

Rachael said: “The first I knew about it was when the new car arrived to pick us up.

“You can imagine my shock when having seen all the bridesmaids leave in one car a completely different car arrived to pick me up.

“It was amazing, even after all the drama, I made it to the church on time.

“In fact, we were even a little bit early.

“I am so grateful to this mystery man because he helped our wedding day run the way it was supposed to.

“He told my mum that he had a “dodgy ticker” too but not until after he had pushed the car and tried to help get it started.”

The hero-of-the-day dropped the driver at the car while bridesmaids Emma Brook, Suzie Mitchell, Holly Shaw and Rachael’s mum Christine Brook were picked up by Suzie’s parents.

Rachael and bridegroom Paul Carter who tied the knot at St John’s Church, Lepton, have just jetted off on their honeymoon but are hoping to track down the Good Samaritan to say thank you.

Customer service advisor Rachael continued: “People who were on their way to the wedding had seen the broken down white car.

“They were all wondering what was going on.

“This mystery man saved the day and really touched the hearts of a couple on their wedding day.

“He was so generous and my husband and I just want to track him down so that we can thank him.

“We would also like to thank Sharon and Steven, Suzie’s parents for coming to the rescue too.

“Mum described the Good Samaritan as a man with glasses, who was wearing a hat.”
