A DALTON woman is accused of growing around £9,000 worth of cannabis plants at her home.

Rochelle Spencer, 26, of Brook Bank, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday charged with production of the controlled drug cannabis.

Prosecutor Linda Fowler said police officers visited the property on September 3 and discovered four large plants in the garage and 38 small plants in the house.

She said the plants had lights, air filters and tents around them and had a yield/street value of £9,258.

Ms Sonia Kidd representing Spencer told the bench the number of plants and the yield/street value was an issue.

The case will be sent to the Crown Court but Spencer will next appear for committal at the magistrates’ court on January 23.
