A DALTON woman has appeared in court accused of £130,000 worth of benefit fraud.

Jacqueline De-Chanel, of Long Lane, appeared before magistrates in Huddersfield yesterday.

She faces seven charges related to fraudulent tax credit claims and overpayments.

Between 2005 and 2012 De-Chanel is alleged to have received overpayments of more than £130,000.

The 43-year-old gave no indication as to what her plea will be. The case will be dealt with by a crown court.

De-Chanel was released on conditional bail. Under these conditions she must live and sleep at the address she gave in court and report to the police station regularly.

Her passport will also be handed over to police and she is banned from applying for any travel documents.

De-Chanel will appear before the Huddersfield court again on September 13.
